Realestate.com: Inside the inner-city luxury building with penthouses for sale at $13m

Joe Adsett Architects has announced its New Farm project ‘Arcilla’ has received development approval, with an estimated completion in early 2027.

One of Brisbane’s tightest-held neighbourhoods is receiving nine new luxury homes, in a development where units can cost up to a whopping $13 million. The five-storey building was designed and will be constructed in-house, sitting on 842sqm of land at 28 Maxwell St.

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom units see prices begin at $5.35m, rounding out to $13m for the penthouse suites on the top floor.

Developer Joe Adsett told the Courier Mail the design of the building drew from Spanish mission architecture, with ‘arcilla’ being the Spanish word for ‘clay’.

“As an architect, it’s important to design buildings that belong to their place and environment,” he said.

“The building adjoining, [Neville Court], is a heritage building, albeit the scale is different … there’s a lot of inspiration from the local architectural theme, albeit in a contemporary interpretation.”

Each residence will include a series of high-end features such as ensuite bathrooms, a wine display and fireplace.

The building will also feature a private wellness retreat, including hot and cold plunge pools, a private gym and sauna, framed by greenery for the homeowners in the shared building.

Sales have taken effect with the project’s development approval, with three expressions of interest already accepted within the first week.
